Our speaker tonight will be Mrs. Laura Clarke who is headmistress of the Rowangate School based in both Wellingborough and Rushden. The school caters for children with varying degrees of disability and in addition to the government funded school age children, they also take babies and toddlers who have to be funded by donations. Some of these children have life limiting conditions. Our club are pleased to have been able to help with the purchase of some specialist equipment to the tune of £1800.00. Rowangate will also be the beneficiary of the funds raised at Funfest 2020. We look forward to hearing how our donation has helped the children and also how we can be of help in the future.
Tonight is our Burns Night celebrations. There will be the usual supper of haggis with neeps and tatties, hopefully with a wee tot of whisky to follow. I am sure we will be entertained in the usual manner with readings and poems delightfully read by Messrs. Wilson and Kendrick. Always a fun evening…
Our speaker this evening will be Mrs. Anne-Marie Hamilton. Her talk is entitled “A Spare Pair of Hands” and includes her life as a farmer’s wife and her involvement with health problems in the rural community for which she recently received an MBE. Her husband is Robert Hamilton, a member of St. Neots St. Marys Rotary Club. We look forward to this with interest.

This should be a very entertaining evening. Rotarian Arthur Hollomon has invited us to his home (not sure whether he’s told his wife yet), and has agreed to serve us lasagne and salad – mmm! And the entertainment in the form of Desert Island Discs, is to be hosted by Rotarians Bob and Sheree Perkin. Thank you – I am sure this is going to be a great social evening.
Members of our Club Council will be holding their bi-monthly meeting.
