We are delighted to be supporting a young carer Natasha Krywald based in Rushden who has written this wonderful book – the Young Carers Companion – to help other young carers in Northamptonshire. The book is aimed at young carers aged 5 – 13 years old. The Rotary Club has supported Natasha (who wrote the book) by producing 3000 books which will be given away free to any Young Carers based in Northamptonshire.
However if you don’t live in Northamptonshire there will be a nominal charge (£3 which included P&P) to get your copy of the book.
The Rotary Club of Rushden Chichele sponsor a team from Rushden Academy for the Youth Speaks competition and they have reached the District Final of Youth Speaks. Only three teams took part but we were a comfortable second to Chenderit School from Middleton Cheney, near Banbury.

Last night at the District Council Meeting Rushden Chichele and Kettering RC were jointly given the District Community Award for the successful completion of the Grafham Water Sailability Cabins project. Our two clubs were the prime movers although it was Alan and Chichele who saw it through to the end and Alan did the time-consuming hard graft. There is gossip that the project
is being put forward for a National Award. (You may remember it was given a special award by the Royal Yacht Club earlier in the year.)
Alan will bring the enormous shield to club in January when he returns from his walkabout in Australia. The RIBI president spoke about membership at the meeting and said some sensible things.
So recently the Rotary Club got together to plant 5000 crocus bulbs to flower in MArch as part of Rotary’s Purple for Poli campaign. St Mary’s Church in Higham Ferrers graciously agreed to let us plant a further 5000 in the Church grounds and so as people walk through in March it will provide a sea of purple.
Here are some of us at the planting:
Thanks to all the Rotarians who took part!
