It was with great pleasure that the last of the Young Carers Book written by Natasha Krywald of Ferrers School, were handed over to Ted Clewley of the Wolverhampton St. Georges Rotary Club. We hope that these books, now spread far and wide, will give help and comfort for young people who are thrown into the task of caring for a parent or loved one.
On 7th October we held our annual Quiz in memory of our late member Alan Mathias, with all proceeds going to the Rotary Foundation.
There were around 60 participants with the questions being set and asked by Rotarian Judy Webb. There were six rounds of 10 questions, as well as two table rounds – a picture quiz and cryptic capital cities. It was a close fought thing, but the winners were The Quizzy Rascals, led by our renowned David Kendrick.
We are very pleased to welcome two new members to the Club. Firstly, Sheila Thompson, who was originally a member of the Rotary Club of Rushden Higham and has now rejoined.
and secondly, our first Corporate member, Liz Wykes of Wykes Engineering.
We are sure that both will be very valuable members of our club
On 23rd September, our new Corporate Member Liz Wykes, from Wykes Engineering, brought along her Project Manager to speak about the work they do with renewable energy and efficient ways of dealing with waste.
It was a very enlightening talk and there was much discussion from the floor, with all questions being answered very effectively.
