Crocus Bulb Planting

So recently the Rotary Club got together to plant 5000 crocus bulbs to flower in March as part of Rotary’s Purple for Polio campaign. St Mary’s Church in Higham Ferrers graciously agreed to let us plant a further 5000 in the Church grounds and so as people walk through in March it will provide a sea of purple.

Here are some of us at the planting:

A Fantastic Golf Day……….

Rushden Chichele Rotary Club’s 27th annual Golf Day at Rushden Golf Club was held on 30th June.

The fine, warm weather made it a grand day out for 14 teams – a full field – and with the generosity of sponsors and a very successful raffle £2000 was raised.

Two local charities WERE THE BENEFICIARIES.

ZACHARY’S SHACK is based in Rushden and supports very sick children and their families by providing respite for them in a mobile home on the east coast.

CRAZY HATS is a local charity that supports cancer patients and thier families in the Rushden area.

Each charity will receive around £800 as a result of the golfers day out.

A New President………….

handover 2017

Allison Du Toit became President of Rushden Chichele Rotary Club on Monday
26th June 2017 at our handover evening. In handing over the chain of office David Kendrick, who had
served the club as President for the previous two years, said that it was a
pleasure and a time for celebration that the Club had inducted four lady
members in the past year and that Allison had agreed to serve as our first
Lady Rotarian President.

Allison, who comes from South Africa, has seen real poverty at first hand,
and is looking forward to developing Rushden Chichele’s charitable work both
locally and overseas. In particular she intends to support local foodbanks,
Rushden MIND, the local Mental Health charity, the Exzema Society and RedrUK
an organisation that trains aid workers for the world’s most hostile
situations.
